Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker LICSW in Massachusetts with 16 years of experience in mental health. I have worked with individuals with acute mental health symptoms as well as those with more chronic conditions. Here are a few things about me:
1) I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change, no matter what you have been through, including trauma, invalidating childhood or adult environments, difficult relationships, and mental health symptoms. Everyone deserves a chance to heal and to be treated with respect.
2) I value your autonomy and making your own life choices. I am not here to give advice, only guide and facilitate along the way.
3) I have experience in CBT and DBT and use these therapeutic approaches to help clients learn and use skills for managing symptoms, conflicts with others, problematic behaviors, increasing self-esteem, and coping with stress, etc.
4) My approach is through listening and validation, but also by challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors and teaching skills to implement change.
5) We work together to identify your personal goals for therapy. I am always open to feedback and if there is anything I can do differently, please let me know!
6) I believe that it is important to find a therapist that is a good fit (personality, communication style, therapeutic approach). When starting therapy with me, it is important that you feel comfortable and if for some reason we are not a fit, and you want to change to another therapist that is okay. I respect and admire the insight that takes. It is your life and your time.
7) Therapy is hard work and takes time. We will not solve all the problems in one session, but if we come up with a plan, we can work together toward your goals.
