About

Hi there! My name is Erin (she/her) and I'm licensed as an independent clinical social worker in the DC/Virginia area.

I believe that every person has the capacity to grow and heal, and should be afforded the space, encouragement, and tools to do so. I believe in the power of reflection, goal-setting, and community. I believe that everyone has a story, and when they are ready, should share that story to support their own journey and someone else's.

As a former elementary-school teacher, I believe that education is a life-long process, and that one of the best gifts one can offer themselves is knowledge of self. I am passionate about building containers of safety for Black people, educators, queer folks, millennials, teenagers, all intersections of the aforementioned, and anyone who is attempting to press forward in a world that they often feel is against them.

I earned my master's degree in clinical social work with a focus in family support from The School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL. I received my bachelor of arts in psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

As a social worker, my approach to therapy is holistic and practical, meaning I take into account one's full history when assessing and treating along with their everyday lifestyle. My style is person-centered and culture- centered, and I recognize the importance of upholding and honoring clients' intersectional experiences and identities.

With empathy, non-judgment, intuition, humor, and directness, I listen actively to draw out strengths and patterns. I utilize a feminist and eclectic theoretical frame and encourage clients to take into the many different systems that impact their lives.

One of the many reasons I chose psychotherapy as a career is that I am often deeply moved and inspired by the journeys of folks I interact with. It is a blessing and a privilege I have to be able to hold space for people, and that I am trusted with their vulnerabilities. My goal is for each client to feel safe, respected, and seen, and to create a virtual environment that is warm and professional. I'd be honored to support you. Hope to talk soon.
