About
Hi there, I'm Erika! My name is Erika Prigo; I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#139621). I believe that all people deserve nothing but the best quality of life that is possible. They should be allowed to complete their tasks every day with full ease and satisfaction. It is quite easy to take all of these tasks for granted, not taking into consideration existential problems that present themselves regardless of age. My approach I use a combination of treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, to find the best fit for you. My focus I work with adolescents and adults, addressing concerns such as depression/mood disorders, life adjustment issues, trauma, childhood trauma, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, and stress. My scope of competence includes dealing with cultural adjustment issues that are faced by immigrants. My communication style Empathetic, warm, client-centered, and accepting. There might be times when therapy will seem uncomfortable. I would like to support my clients throughout these challenging times when vulnerability takes over. My journey to therapy My primary reason for becoming a therapist was facing and eventually overcoming my own personal struggles that impacted my life more than I admitted at the time. I realized that in order to live a more content and emotionally peaceful life, I needed to face and confront these struggles. This also got me thinking about how many people face the same/similar challenges but have no idea of the impact these challenges have on their life or how to deal with them. I would like to offer my own experiences and knowledge to assist my clients with their concerns. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is collaborative, where the client is a master of their life, and with my input and guidance, we can create a safe place to improve emotional well-being.
