About

About me:
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with over 10 years of professional experience working with individuals that are experiencing stress and anxiety managing real life issues. Before that, I have personal experience working with developmentally disabled, our geriatric populations, incarcerated individuals, substance abuse issues, mental illness, blended family dynamics and a range of other facets of life's challenges that many of us face from time to time.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, client-centered, and motivational interviewing. I have experience working with individuals struggling with negative self-talk, low self-esteem, mood instability, substance use, challenging irrational beliefs, anxiety and history of trauma.
My personal philosophy of therapy is that, "Life doesn't get better by chance, but by choice." My hope for my clients is to develop a therapeutic relationship that is built on trust in order to explore and identify meaningful goals specific for that individual, whether it involve being a better parent, reducing stressors to be present in the moment, or simply just accepting the challenges of adulting. It is very gratifying for me as a clinician to meet a client in need, work with them through the process of identifying their individual stressors in life, making a plan to combat these challenges and observing the outcome of their achievements.
I consider myself very insightful to the needs of you, my client and offer honesty and sincerity when helping you to identify obstacles that once hindered your goals towards a balanced life. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Understanding the importance of decompressing and unplugging from the daily trials and tribulations of life, my husband and I own and operate vacation rentals in the Pacific Northwest and on the Baja California Sur, Mexico. We have been hosting family and friends over the past 25 years and enjoy watching young to old just enjoy good old fashioned, down time. One of our vacation rentals can host multiple groups for gathering and enjoying each other's time. The other is a small, one family, oceanfront condominium in a little town near Cabo San Lucas that allows for genuine refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I have multiple years of experience counseling in a variety of settings.
