About

Hello! My name is Erika Brinda. I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 13 years of professional work experience. I love being a therapist and I appreciate the work that I do. I enjoy working with a diverse population and practice therapy with cultural humility. My approach I enjoy using a variety of theoretical approaches and prefer to meet the needs and preferences of my clients. I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing produce great results in a short period of time. My focus I am accustomed to working with the entire lifespan. I prefer working with adults. I have experience with treating depression, anxiety/panic disorders, trauma, sleep issues, adjustment disorders, divorce and family stressors, and mood disorders. My communication style I try to ensure that each of my clients leave the session feeling heard, understood and respected. I like to ask my clients for direct feedback about their experience in therapy and use this feedback to make adjustments in future sessions. I want my clients to feel confident that we are aligned on how we are approaching their concerns. My journey to therapy I am a former credentialed teacher. While working with an underserved student population, I found myself wanting to work individually with students to better understand and help them overcome obstacles and achieve success. While I enjoyed teaching, I discovered that my true passion was counseling, mentoring, and helping individuals get "unstuck". My goals for you I believe that goal setting should be collaborative. I explain that setting goals provides us with a "road map" for therapy. I ask a variety of questions to help establish the client's meaning or purpose of being in therapy. I work with my clients to make sure the goal(s) is as specific and clear as possible and addresses how their life will be different once they reach their goal(s).
