About

Hello everyone, name is Eric, I am currently a therapist holding licenses in Marriage and Family as well as Professional Clinical Counselor. I am trained in EMDR and a certified hypnotherapist. I have a very eclectic and wholistic approach when working with individuals. It is my philosophy that therapy should not only be intense but also interesting and fun while accruing many coping skills to fill the tool box to manage life, because as we all know, life can be intense, difficult, and a full of surprises; that we may not know how to handle or currently do not yet have the skill sets to integrate. This is the basis of my therapeutic orientation, to assist individuals in achieving their goals and/or overcoming their obstacles to find insight, knowledge and strength that already exists or assist in building these characteristics and traits into ones life, while letting go of that which no longer positively serves one’s life.
I have been working with individuals in my primary job at a facility that focuses on: Alcohol and Drug Use and abuse; which also brings a major focus to co-occurring issues with various mental health challenges. I also have a private practice where I work with individuals who come for therapy for many various reasons. I have worked with children, adolescents and adult populations and I feel comfortable working with all of these age groups. I will give a brief description of the modalities or orientations that I am trained in and use during the therapy journey: Psychodyanmic (looking into one’s past to find where current patterns of behavior are rooted), Narrative (understanding that the individual has the answers inside and needs assistance in finding the internal knowledge to solve their problem and design a new life script of their choosing), Solution-Focused (assisting the individual in solving their problems focusing what can be done in the, ‘Here and Now’ to affect positive, desired change), EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique (energy psychology, focusing on releasing stagnated energy within ones energetic system, think Chi), CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (assisting the individual in recognizing patterns of thoughts which may be distorted and causing issues in their lives that they may be unaware of and assist in making proactive changes to the thought process to affect positive change), EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (used often with trauma to assist the brain and nervous system in releasing stored energy/memories that are causing issues and problems in one’s life; this can also be used for personal development by working on smaller traumatic events), I am also trained a a yoga teacher and meditation teacher (so there is a wide range of breath work, mindfulness or other appropriate work that can be included), & the cherry on the top is, Hypnosis (which I often use to assist in relaxing the individual into a state of maximum suggestibility to assist in integrating new beliefs, thoughts and patterns of behavior, while assisting in unwinding old patterns of belief, thoughts and patterns of behavior that no longer serve the individual and are unwanted.) It is my belief that therapy should be interesting, intense at times, full insight and hopefully fun for the individual as they move along their journey of self-healing, change and healing. It is also my belief that all individuals can work through whatever issues they may be facing and overcome their obstacle and become the ‘Hero’ of their journey; sometimes we just need a little assistance, guidance and someone to believe in us to get where we are going.
