About

Hi there, I'm Emily Poulos! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I believe that all clients have the power to make changes in their life within them. As a therapist, my job is to just come alongside the client to support in that change and transformation. Understanding why people suffer, how they change, and how to help them live more satisfying and gratifying lives is a fascinating, huge, and important undertaking. -Sommers-Flanagan & Sommers-Flanagan My approach My belief is that therapy is more of a seasonal support. When there are seasons in life when support is needed, therapy is there to provide the support and the tools/skills to allow for clients to autonomously conquer issues moving forward. My role is to provide space for my clients to process and guide them with the tools/skills that I can provide. Some of the most common theoretical approaches that I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. My focus Within my time as a therapist, I’ve worked with people of all ages and backgrounds. From my time in the school system working with children aged 5-18 years old, to my time in private practice with individuals aged 5-85 years old, as well as my time working with military service members and veterans. Working on a telehealth platform I prefer to work with adults. I have the most experience working with clients dealing with the following issues: anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, women's issues, relationship distress, panic/ panic attacks, adjustment, stress, eating disorders, and many others. My communication style Three words that describe my therapeutic communication style are: supportive, non-judging, and compassionate. Each session I provide my clients the opportunity to process whatever it is that they would like to process. In addition, I utilize the goals we have set as a guide for our time together.
