About
No matter what the cultural background, life experiences, or future aspirations, there is one thing that we all share. It is an untold story. At times it becomes necessary to share the untold in order to make sense and to get back on track. As we begin a therapeutic relationship, it is important for you to be acquainted with my background as a therapist, including my professional experience and training.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009 with a Master of Social Work degree and also received my initial license as a social worker in 2009, which allowed me the opportunity to begin working under the supervision of a colleague who possessed an advanced degree in social work. After completing the requirements and passing the exam for LCSW in 2016 I continued working as a therapist, and in the wraparound setting, as a Mobile Therapist and Behavioral Services Consultant.
My passion to understand mental illness and to help people who struggle with it has been there for as long as I can remember. My expertise is to address trauma, mood disorders, family conflict amongst other concerns that may come up in life.
I approach therapy as a collaborative effort where we examine your concerns and experiences meaningfully and without judgment. I find the eclectic approach to the treatment essential combining the talking, homework, humor, and mind-body techniques to help work through difficulties. However, most often I find myself use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Therapy. I use a Strength-Based Approach in the treatment process. Many of my clients have found that the inclusion of spiritual perspectives and disciplines is a powerful context in which to work toward their therapy goals. As a member of the National Association of Social Workers, I ascribe to the NASW Code of Ethics (updated 2018).
I am passionate about my work and welcome the chance to get to know you!
