About
I have been in the mental health field for 10 years. I have a master's degree in Psychology from Golden Gate University (2012) and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I have worked in a variety of settings including community clinics and school settings and have worked extensively in the areas of grief, trauma, and relationship counseling, as well as early intervention for psychosis. The decision to seek out therapy is not always easy and it takes courage. I am dedicated to helping people find their way through difficult feelings and situations that can be stressful and lead to a sense of hopelessness and powerlessness. I take time getting to know my clients and their stories in order to gain a better understanding of how to best support and guide them. My approach is warm, curious and sincere. I hold a space that maintains respect and believe in building trust. My goal is to empower clients to make healthier choices, to encourage reflection and help develop a deeper self-understanding and to support the process of finding meaning in their experiences. My role is not to "fix" people, but more to facilitate change. I don't lead sessions with my own agenda but let the client determine the path of our discussions. I take a collaborative approach with my clients to create goals that will lead them to more fulfilling relationships and enjoyment in life. I do my best to meet my client's where they are, I ask questions along the way, and will also challenge them to think about their experiences and feelings differently. I think this is a key component to growth. I believe in transparency, I use strength based, person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and incorporate education and resources to fit individual needs.
