My theoretical orientation is eclectic and is shaped by the needs of the specific client. In all cases I work from a Client-Centered approach, using a nonjudgmental forum for the exploration of issues chosen by the client. I use Cognitive theories to help clients to identify thought patterns that guide their lives and to assess the utility and validity of those thoughts. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to raise mindfulness and acceptance. I use Experiential and Somatic theories to enhance awareness of the felt sense of unresolved situations. I use Solution-Focused theory to empower clients to draw upon their own wisdom and resources to aid in the growth and recovery process. Lastly, I have a Systemic outlook through which I view the clients’ challenges within the context of their social environment.
