Hello,
I have ten years of experience in therapy and counseling working in a variety of capacities. I am Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. My areas of interest include: domestic violence, justice involved individuals, mood disorders, and trauma. I have worked with clients who have struggled with a wide variety of issues including: homelessness, severe and persistent mental illness, dual diagnosis (concurrent substance abuse and mental health issues), foster/adoptive parenting adjustments, psychiatric crises, interactions with the legal system, complex trauma, psychosis, mood disorders, and other concerns.
When I engage in therapy with a client I tend to come from a cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed perspective. I strongly believe that a therapist should be culturally competent and open to a client from any walk of life. Choosing to see a therapist can be a difficult decision to make and I commend you for making that choice. It can be hard to admit we are struggling or branch out and ask for help. Just remember, the hardest part is usually the start! Taking that first step (whatever it may be) may be the hardest part of your journey but you won't regret investing in yourself and your future.
