About
I am a firm believer that we each have the answers to our problems. However, at times, we need direction and compassionate understanding to guide us toward the solutions that lie within ourselves. Counseling can spark motivation and willingness for personal growth. When working with you, I'll ask you the right questions-things you may not have considered before. Additionally, I'll present proven, evidence-based strategies and provide psychoeducation to broaden your awareness and insight into your presenting concerns. Although you will make strides with the energy and effort you give, the number one predictor that one will significantly improve is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to provide a place of warmth, compassion, and acceptance in which you feel empowered and free to approach any concerns. I am here to help you along on your journey.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Licenced Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas. I graduated with my master's degree in counseling with an emphasis in Addictions at Texas-A&M University-Corpus Christi. Currently, I am a Doctoral Candidate at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, completing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have experience working with adults on an individual level in several therapeutic settings, including outpatient substance abuse, inpatient psychiatry, community-based counseling, and indigent care. The theoretical framework that I draw from is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; however, I tend to be more integrative and tailor my approach to the client's presenting needs and provide a holistic and humanistic approach. Additional frameworks I utilize in sessions include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques. I have the most experience in addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal skills, stress management, wellness, self-esteem, anger, problem-solving, and decision-making. In conjunction with therapy, I believe that exercise, healthy eating, and practicing good sleep hygiene are an integral part of overcoming mental health concerns and optimizing one's wellbeing.
Change, even positive change, can be challenging and uncomfortable. I hope to provide the necessary support during the process.
