About
I was born and raised in Virginia and received my undergraduate degree from Princeton University. I taught for several years before returning to school to complete a Masters in Education (M.Ed.) at Harvard University and a Masters in Science (M.S.) in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Vermont. I moved to the mountain west in search of outdoor adventure and became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Utah. For the past fifteen years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings. I have worked at two residential treatment centers for adolescents, where I conducted individual, family, and group therapy sessions. I have also worked for several years in private practice, seeing both adolescents and adults. Additionally, I run an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program, which serves as a helpful experiential adjunct to my more office-based work.
I am a trauma-informed therapist who believes in a holistic approach to therapy that focuses on emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. I recognize that the therapeutic relationship is central to the healing process. I use a person-centered approach in therapy, creating a safe environment for clients to do the courageous internal work required to heal and change. I know that it is important for me to meet clients wherever they are in their process and to support them as they create their own goals and direction. I offer clients opportunities to honor their past, to practice new patterns of interaction, to develop their inner resources, and to feel embodied and empowered. I have extensive training and experience in treating trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, relational conflict, addictions, and self-harm. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Informed Yoga, and I have completed both Levels 1 and 2 of Brainspotting training. I integrate mindfulness practice and somatic awareness into my clinical work. Further, I have worked with many clients questioning their gender and/or sexual identity, and I strive to be a multiculturally competent ally for everyone as they journey through their self-discovery process.
I sincerely hope that I can support you in your healing and growth. We are living through a stressful time, when many people feel stuck and alone. The relationship we create in our work together will offer connection and a reorientation to strength and resilience!
