About
Hello, I am Eileen Schmidt. I am a licensed clinical social worker and a certified grief counselor providing many different approaches to therapy. COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT) The idea around that is that certain feelings or beliefs you have about yourself for situations in your life can lead to distress. With CBT we can identify patterns and how they may negatively affect your life And focus on addressing existing symptoms and making changes. CBT can be used to treat mood disorders such as depression and anxiety HUMANISTIC THERAPY This approach helps you better understand what you're experiencing offering guidance and support without interpreting your feelings because you are the best person to understand your experiences and needs TRAUMA-FOCUSED THERAPY This approach recognizes how a traumatic experience impacts mental behavioral emotional physical And spiritual well-being. The purpose of trauma focus therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist in having a better understanding, coping with, and processing emotions and memories tied to that experience to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of what took place in your life HUMANISTIC THERAPY This approach emphasizes the client's capacity to make rational choices and develop to their maximum potential. It may be also known as clientcentered therapy. I do not tie myself to any one approach instead I blend elements from different approaches and tailor the treatment of my clients according to their needs I earned my bachelor's and graduated summa cum laude from the College of New Rochelle in New York where I majored in education and psychology. I earned my master's at NYU School of Social Work. I have worked in many different clinical settings. I have very strong counseling abilities. I am empathetic and understanding of the interpersonal relationships that may be interrupting your well-being. I pride myself on developing a therapeutic relationship and providing a safe and nurturing space.
