About
Hello!
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in CA with over 15 years of experience working as a therapist, case manager, liaison and an agent of change, in various settings such as schools, county, non profit agencies, in home therapy, etc. I have worked with people of various ages and with a wide range of concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, grief and loss, immigration, cultural differences and adaptation impacts. I also help people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse and I am trained in trauma focused approach, trauma recovery work, and trauma interventions.
I lean towards a person centered, warm and interactive therapy style, free of judgment and stigma. It is very important for us to feel safe and accepted for who we are in order to allow ourselves to be vulnerable, find the right match in a therapist, and be open to feedback. My approach combines CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), humanistic, existential, and solution focused. What this all means, is that I believe that all of us are 'our own doctors' and we usually have a pretty good idea about our overall health, our needs, decision making, anxiety tools etc. and with professional guidance we may be able to move ourselves from a stuck place to a productive one. How we progress in therapy, is by using various therapeutic tools in and outside of the session, to meet your unique and specific needs.
The fact that you are reading this, may mean that you made the hardest step: getting started! It takes a lot to make this call and you are doing it or might be very close. Please feel free to contact me for more information and I look forward to working with you!
