About
Life is like a roller coaster, there are up’s, downs, and unexpected turns. While we may not always be in control of the roller coaster, we are in control of figuring out how to get through the ride and recognize the full worth of the ride. I see myself as a passenger sitting next to you on this rollercoaster of life, working with you on how to ride this roller coaster in whatever way that best fits your individual needs and concerns. You are not alone in this roller coaster of life. Let’s work together in helping you to enjoy the ride.
My name is Dwayne and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC). I completed a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a M.P.A in Justice Administration at Columbus State University. I am currently a third-year doctoral student in the Counselor Education & Supervision program at Auburn University. I have over 6 years of clinical experience. My clinical experience includes working in a variety of settings (inpatient, outpatient, community-based, group home, in-home) providing individual, couples, and group counseling services. I’ve worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds who presented with a variety of concerns.
My approach to counseling is flexible, laidback, and co-created – meaning this process is collaborative. I don’t believe people are broken or need to be fixed. I believe that you already have the tools inside of you, and through facilitating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, respect, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, you can access those tools to live the life you see fit. I utilize an integrative, culturally responsive, existential approach to counseling to facilitate a therapeutic environment that is uniquely tailored to your needs.
I value people’s lived experiences and helping them to live a life congruent with their way of being. I look forward to working with you to actualize your agency in whatever way you see fit!
Other things about me – I play tennis, love traveling, like to karaoke, and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
