Hello! You are just the kind of person I want to meet. You have courage. Instead of letting life slip by, you’ve decided to do something. I like that about you. You can do something on your own or you can look for a guide. I’ve tried both. Traveling in foreign lands, I have struck out on my own seeing many interesting things without a clue as to what I’m seeing. And I have followed a guide. Big difference! You don’t have to do this alone.
I have 25 years of successful experience: Private Practice, Counselor at Edwards Air Force Base (3500 Civilian employees, many Veterans), Counselor for FEMA (Multiple crisis situations: NYC following Terrorist Attacks on Sept 11, 2001, deployment to Mississippi and Louisiana following Katrina hurricane, Beckley West Virginia after 29 miners were killed, a shooting at LAX and many more.)c
My approach to counseling is to work collaboratively with you to identify what is keeping you from the fulfilling life you deserve. It will be solution focused, cognitive behavioral, pragmatic, eclectic, whatever works.
Research indicates that 70% of the success of counseling comes from making a good connection with your counselor. That is, do you like him? Trust him? Respect him? If I can’t provide that, you should select a different counselor.
