About

I am Dr. Tracey-Ann Spencer, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist holding a PhD and Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have over 10 years of clinical experience with individuals, groups, families, children and couples. This includes clients in both residential and in-patient treatment facilities dealing with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and mental health challenges. I have also conducted therapy with children dealing with grief and the loss of a loved one, craniofacial abnormalities, cognitive, affective, and behavioral dysfunctions, disabilities and impairments, and also conducted anti-bullying training in Middle School.

My therapeutic style is presented in warmth, respect, integrity, empathy, compassion, and non-judgement, and my clinical approach and practice is informed by Bowen Family Systems Theory, Emotional Intelligence, and Solution-Focused Therapy. The foundation of my therapeutic work is centered on helping clients gain introspection, self-development, and intelligent governance of their emotions to lead a successful and fulfilling life. The goal of therapy is to help clients use reason to develop a distinction between their intellectual and emotional functioning which provides the opportunity for the development of self-management, emotional stability, goal attainment, decision making skills, solution building skills, problem solving skills, and relationship management.

I Iook forward to working with you, and helping you to meet your specific therapeutic needs.
