Dr. Susan Coneybeer is a psychologist who specializes in individual/ family therapy and behavioral medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Coneybeer's masters and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology were achieved from Indiana University of PA.
Susan currently works with children and adults with relationship problems, mood disorders/depression, anxiety, trauma or those persons who are experiencing life changes and need counsel. Those life changes may include losses of all kinds, vocational or financial concerns or perhaps relational changes. She sees families who may be experiencing marital conflict, a child with behavioral problems or a teenager or adult struggling with addictions. Older families may be adjusting to an empty nest, aging parents or even retirement. Behavioral medicine specialties include trauma, eating disorders, insomnia, pain management, headaches and pre-surgical evaluations.
Counseling sessions offer support, problem solve using research based therapies oriented toward change, teach positive forms of coping and reinforce a person's strengths. More specifically, this therapist primarily uses paradigms which includes Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
