Though I'm licensed as both a Clinical Psychologist and Professional Counselor, I've always concentrated more on how emotions work than the newest fad theory or technique. Among others, I've helped disturbed adolescents, at-risk families, incarcerated felons, the severely mentally ill, and nursing home residents transform their lives. Though their emotions have varied, the mechanisms through which poor emotional habits block growth and the ways to release those blocks have all stayed the same. What is your approach to therapy? My specialty is runaway emotions, especially in those considered "too sensitive." We've all gotten into ruts where it seems like life is happening to us and we're getting tossed around in the currents, unable to stop what's happening. Those times, when we're overmatched and unable to regulate ourselves, can lead to trauma that affects us for years, if not the rest of our lives. My entire professional career has involved developing and testing therapy protocols for healing those exact situations. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? Most problems arise from misunderstanding their context. Not just in your life, but in human evolution. For instance, there's no such thing as "too sensitive." Devout Hindus and Buddhists have historically meditated for decades to become as sensitive as you are now. Your sensitivity can be a tool instead of a weakness. Let me show you how. Others' emotions will no longer torment you. You'll feel freer. Then we can focus on what you want your life to look like, now that you're less overwhelmed.
