My name is Dr. Shannon Smith, and I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Florida. I received my doctorate from Florida State University. I provide individual therapy services. I identify as a generalist psychologist, which means I am well-equipped to work with a wide range of client concerns/experiences and with individuals of varying identities and backgrounds. I specialize in working with young adults. I have a passion for working with people on the Autism Spectrum, as well as working with individuals identifying as LGBTQ+.

In therapy, I use a collaborative approach with my clients to develop and reach their goals for improved well-being. I believe that my job is to support and guide my clients in an empathic, authentic, and caring manner to overcome the challenges in their lives. Every person is different; therefore, I adapt my approach to meet each client where they are in the moment. For some people, this may mean me providing listening, validation, and assistance in exploring their thoughts and feelings. For others, therapy may involve structured interventions to relieve stress/anxiety, improve an individual’s mood, better regulate emotions, and challenge/reframe negative thoughts that are causing difficult feelings. I treat a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, identity concerns, and life transitions. I enjoy providing therapy services and being part of the process for an individual’s growth.
