My name is Sandra Block, Ph.D. and I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Southern California providing in-office and online psychotherapy for children, adolescents, families, couples and individuals (18-99 years of age) for over 30 years. My approach In my practice I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Therapeutic Writing, couples therapy, family therapy and hypnosis. A combination of therapeutic techniques can often be used according to the client's needs. Choosing a treatment approach is always a joint decision between clients and myself; a client is always informed of what to expect in the chosen treatment model. My focus I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues at home and at work, gambling addiction, parenting issues, family/generational conflicts, grief, aging issues and ongoing stresses of chronic illness. My communication style All prospective clients may schedule a 20 minute introductory session. This will help you explore questions you may have about therapy in general and in my professional practice. My first session with you In a first session we will spend time on a thorough psychological, biological and social history and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and identify your goals in therapy. In sessions my approach is open, respectful and active. Between sessions I will often give you reading material and/or worksheets especially aimed at achieving your therapeutic goals.
