I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado. I have over 30 years of experience as a Social Worker in a variety of settings including mental health practices, both public and private. I have an MSW and Doctorate of Social Work from UCLA. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues including adjusting to divorce and co-parenting issues after divorce. I have also helped clients who have experienced trauma and emotional abuse.
My approach is to engage with you to creatively come up with practical solutions that you can apply during and right after the session. I like to treat people like human beings first and not form diagnostic stenotypes. I will often use a cognitive behavioral approach in order to understand the meaning of current and past concerns to challenge a person’s thinking related to their mood disorder. I see the task of the therapeutic relationship with the client as one of forming a joint partnership to develop new insights and strategies to promote healing. For clients experiencing trauma, either simple or complex, other non-verbal approaches may be used such as EMDR to deal with trauma issues. I will seek to tailor our dialog and treatment to meet your unique and specific needs.
As a social worker it is important to me to work with individuals respectfully with a caring compassionate way of understanding clients as whole persons, taking into account ethnic, racial, economic, religious, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, class differences, or any other factors affecting their development.
