About

I am a doctoral-level, Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years of experience. I have worked with clients who have experienced a variety of issues, including adjustment issues, anxiety and depression, sexual trauma, and relationship issues, among others.

I highly value my clients and respect their autonomy. I believe each person has a desire to feel productive in community, in work, and in relationships. I believe family environment, birth order, early childhood experiences (all of this to include their cultural context in the world) influence personality development and create a pattern for which we interact with others and the world. I view my job as a counselor is to help clients see connections between the experiences, the patterns, and orientation to life so that new and effective coping skills are learned and utilized and internal resources which have been there all along are brought to the surface. I also believe it is necessary to help clients understand that the work they do in session with me impacts what happens in other relationships and to be aware of and learn how to effectively manage those shifting dynamics. Additionally, I like to contextualize what happens in session through creativity and meaningful metaphors.

I applaud your decision to seek counseling - it is not easy to allow yourself the vulnerability involved. However, I have found through my work and my personal experiences that there is great reward in doing so. I look forward to walking along side of you on your journey to a healthier you!
