Dr. Nick Sotor is a Chicago-born psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. He has a passion for providing and teaching evidence-based behavioral therapies and is one of the few Linehan Board Certified DBT clinicians working in Chicago. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Sotor also has experience as a trainer and offers various workshops and training opportunities to clinicians and members of the community. Dr. Sotor is extremely passionate about his work and enjoys teaching and training clinicians, family members, and community members more effective ways to think about, support, and encourage folks struggling with complex mental health problems. Dr. Sotor teaches the people he works with to view their patients or loved ones within the larger context of their lives instead of resorting to assigning simplistic and often unhelpful labels to a persons experience. He focuses on helping others to accept their clients or loved ones for who they are while at the same time advocating for meaningful change. Dr. Sotor’s teaching and training style can be described as direct, thoughtful, and often irreverent. He has an appreciation for the intersection of the various identities, histories, and values which contributes to our individuality. As an ally, he strives to organize his life around this appreciation and embraces opportunities to engage with individuals and communities who bring with them multiple identities and backgrounds.
