About

I'm Mojdeh Motamedi and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I'm proud of you for taking the step to start therapy as it is not easy to start. My approach is to focus on your goals and validate and support you throughout the process. I especially focus on working with children, adolescents, and their families but can also work with adults. My approach I seek to use evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and parenting programs like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). These approaches are shown based on research to be effective for a range of difficulties including anxiety, trauma, depression, and behavioral problems. I'm also familiar with and have used a variety of other interventions focused on attachment, family systems, OCD and anxiety, emotions, eating disorders, peer problems, and substance use. I will be transparent with you about what I can offer, what I know to be best practices for your concerns, and the treatment process. My priority is to find you a therapist who helps you and your family feel and function better. If my approach does not work for you, I will try to support you to connect with someone who is a good fit for your concerns. My focus My specialty is working with children, adolescents, and their caregivers. I've worked with people who have depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, ARFID, adjustment disorders, behavioral problems (e.g., oppositional defiant disorder), ADHD, tics, skin or hair pulling, individuals with co-occurring autism and developmental delays, and other diagnoses. I have received additional specialty training for treating PTSD and all types of anxiety disorders, including selective mutism, and OCD. I also have significant experience working with refugees. My communication style I seek to be very supportive, non-judgmental, validating, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful.
