About
I believe that, no matter how difficult the circumstances in which we find ourselves, we can thrive and find contentment in life. Over the past 14 years of providing counseling services to individuals and families of all ages, I have helped people change how they feel and act in the world. I help people develop the abilities to change what they can, and help people to accept or work around situations that create obstacles to change and growth.
Our private, confidential, trusting, and collaborative client-counselor relationship will provide the safe space you need to explore how to be mindful, grounded, and self-accepting. You will become more self-aware, and will be more aware of how you respond to others in your life. You will feel motivated and empowered to make lasting change by being open to new perspectives, and by learning and applying the coping skills that work for you to become resilient and strong. Sometimes the therapy process can be uncomfortable as you change and grow, and I will be with you on the journey to support and accept your new path. I look forward to getting to know you.
I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont, earned in 2002. In addition to working in private practice, I have taught University courses in Lifespan Development, Child Development, Clinical & Counseling Psychology, and other areas of the helping professional. Also, because of my passion for helping people cope with loss, I developed and taught a college-level course in Death, Dying, and Loss, with an emphasis on "ambiguous loss" (or coping with change that is less clear-cut). I have worked extensively with individuals coping with medical conditions and single traumatic events.
