I am a licensed psychologist who believes we are doing the best we can with the tools we currently have to navigate life's challenges. Sometimes the tools we have either stop working or we realize the tools are having negative consequences for us. My style involves taking an active, collaborative, and compassionate approach to creating a safe environment to discuss difficult topics you are dealing with. I have a strong background in trauma-related/anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and interpersonal relationships. Further, I use various evidence-based strategies including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and exploring life's purpose/meaning. I also take a strengths-based approach (yes, we all have strengths!) as it is our strengths that often help us in the areas in which we are struggling most. I also take into consideration issues related to diversity, power, and privilege. I believe there is always hope even in the darkest of circumstances and it is that hope that often keeps us going.
