Hello! I am Dr. Lee Keyes, a licensed psychologist in the State of Alabama. I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1991 and was licensed that same year. Since then I have worked as a psychologist in higher education, private practice, and an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I have also served in leadership roles in state and international organizations, have provided 42 conference presentations, and published 30 professional articles and one book. I currently also am a consultant and provide educational development services to mental health professionals, administrators, health service entities, and anyone else interested in developing sound mental health programs.

My psychotherapy orientation includes interpersonal and dynamic approaches, though I am not a strict adherent to any particular school of thought. I work in a collaborative, problem-solving manner, and make adjustments depending on client feedback and evidence of progress. A fundamental belief of mine is that people generally think, feel, and do things for good reasons, and the first step involves understanding those reasons which then forms the basis of choices about what needs to change. I work to help clients understand themselves, and to live congruently with self, others, and the world around them. In this regard I have the most experience with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family dynamics, communication skills, career development, and living assertively.
