About

"I don’t know anyone who wants to talk about hurtful, shameful, painful feelings and experiences. Actually, from a prior survey, people would rather have a root canal (major discomforting/painful dental procedure) than have a psychological exam. No one wants to face unknown psychological/emotional pain. So, let’s approach this respectfully and sensitively. And, verbally vomiting a problem doesn’t resolve a problem, but being able to identify and naming the challenge is a good start. Learning skills and practicing learned life habits are the coaching that can be provided in treatment, which can lead to confidence. Even the best athletes need a coach to bring out a person’s best performance. You still may not like the problem but maybe better able to handle it, possibly even thrive beyond the challenges that lead to therapy. And, asking for help is a positive human quality that will serve you well. Developing a trusting relationship with a therapist is like any relationship; it takes time. I enjoy working with adult individuals, couples & families. My therapeutic experiences embrace people from various ethnicities, nationalities, and backgrounds. I have addressed substance abuse/addictions (including sexual), anger/stress/affect management, severe mental illness, life/coping skills, trauma/rape/child abuse, ministerial candidates/ministers, veterans, and parole/probation. If you could have resolved the problem, you would have. Needing help/others is a positive human quality. I respect various sources of strength and support for people to foster and address the changes/challenges in their lives. If you wish to have prayer, be a part of your sessions, please make that known. Dr. Schloneger has been a Texas licensed psychologist since 5/7/99 and has experience in mental health services for 37 years. Education is Ph.D. for clinical psychology in 12/96 from California School Professional Psychology (now Alliant International University)
