About
Good morning, and welcome to my practice, My name is Jean-Frederic Aboudarham. I am a very multifaceted psychologist: having lived on four continents (Africa, Europe, Middle East and North America), being fluent in three languages (French, Hebrew, and English), and holding two quite different higher education degrees (an MS in Software Engineering and a Ph.D. in Psychology) give me a unique ability to understand you and to interact with you. I specialize in Bipolar Disorders, Anxiety, and Couple issues. My approach My approach to psychotherapy is mostly Cognitive Behavioral: I do believe that our unconscious schemas (the ways we conceptualize the world and ourselves in it) drives our choices and therefore our results. No system is a panacea, and I use tools borrowed from other orientations, such as Psychodynamic (Freudian & Jungian) or Client Centered (Rogerian) to name two, based on the specifics of your situation. My focus I typically work with adults and adolescents around 15 years old and above. It can be individual, couple or family settings. I am comfortable with and feel competent to treat, Bipolar Disorders, Anxiety, certain Personality Disorders (I am not very good with Narcissistic nor Antisocial PD), and Couple and Family issues. My communication style I am very natural and personable. You will call me Jean-Frederic, and at times, it will feel like I am your coach, but never your friend, sorry... My journey to mental healthcare In my first career, I studied software engineering, and I was fascinated with Operations Research, which is the science of optimization and answers questions like how many parking spots should be planned in a lot or a garage, how many cash registers in a supermarket, and how cashiers should work at various times of the day.
