Good day! My name is Dustin and I am a Licensed Psychologist in Colorado that has been practicing therapy for over 10 years. As far as experience goes, I have worked at a community mental health center, cancer center, in forensics, and within a variety of other specialties including chronic pain and disease management, active duty military and combat veterans, and with college athletes on both mental health and sport-related issues. Through this experience I have had the pleasure to work client’s problems throughout the spectrum of diagnoses.
If you ask if I had a specialty, I would say its as a general practitioner, however I have specialized in treating anxiety disorder and helping people current and past traumatic experiences. Examples of traumatic experiences I have helped clients work through would include childhood abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence survivors, natural disasters, survivors of mass shootings, and combat/military experiences.
I feel I have an eclectic approach in working with clients. I hold center that you, as the client, are the best expert on yourself, and believe working from that belief is a great start. I lean towards cognitive therapy and cognitive behavior interventions. This means we take a journey down your thoughts, beliefs, perspectives, and emotions to help you better manage life’s challenges and mental health symptoms. I believe the journey of therapy is difficult, but can also be fun and enlightening!
