Hi, I'm Dr. Doug. I'm a husband, a father of four kids and a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado. I have been working with children, adolescents, and adults for over 20 years. My wife and I have three biological children and one child adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo. I have a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver and a Masters degree in Religion from the Methodist seminary, The Iliff of Theology. Some people come to me for counseling because they are looking for a Christian counselor or someone they can talk to about religious or spiritual issues. While my religious training is part of the lens I look through when meeting with people, you certainly don’t have to be a Christian or religious to work with me. In fact, I work with people from a variety of different backgrounds, beliefs and faiths. If you want to discuss religious or spiritual issues that is certainly welcomed here, but I will leave it up to you to bring it up. My specialty is in anxiety and most of the people I work with are adults. In addition to counseling, I do neuropsychological testing, neurofeedback training and teach workshops on leadership development, personal growth and parenting. My approach to counseling is cognitive-behavioral with special training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I do believe every one of us gifts, talents and abilities that make us unique. My hope is to help others identify what those gifts and talents are and encourage them to live their life consistent with their values and what matters most to them. I live in Durango, Colorado wither my wife, our four kids, two Labrador retrievers, a cat and several chickens. I look forward to meeting you soon.
