About
What should your client know about you? Hi! Thanks for reading my bio! I'm a well-informed (keep up on the latest studies) clinician that draws on evidence-based strategies to reduce undesirable symptoms and behaviors of mood or anxiety disorders. More recently I have been adopting strategies for persons affected by trauma. I have been an adjunct psych professor and am a certified NYS school psychologist. For fun, I like to spend time with family, explore science and nature, read, write music, swim, and hike. What is your approach to therapy? I like to think of my approach as eclectic, though I often lean toward behavior therapy and cognitive therapy (CBT). I have often found significantly improved outcomes for my patients by utilizing a pragmatic approach (i.e., managing vital areas like sleep, nutrition, exercise, etc) as the foundation, setting the stage for further growth. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? I like to keep it real! I see therapy as teaming up to form a manageable action plan designed to reduce undesirable behaviors/cognitions/feelings and/or to elicit desirable outcomes... I often remind patients that there are 3 kinds of thoughts: you can think of the past (might make a depressed person sadder), the future (might make an anxious person stressed), or the present moment (optimal for growth!). Thanks for reading and I wish you all the best.. namaste
