About

My name is Dr. Craig Wetterer and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in California and Nevada. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused theoretical models. My focus areas in my practice include depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, adjustment to work stress and sleep disorders. My approach My primary approach is Cognititve-Behavioral (CBT), and within this framework, I offer Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Schema Therapy, CBT-i (insomnia), and standard CBT. My focus My typical client is someone who is experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, which is often connected to unexpected life events, or other circumstances that have overwhelmed the individual's coping ability. My communication style The tone I set from the beginning is one of transparency, openness, and trust, which gives the client the confidence to be open and trusting in sharing information that will facilitate a healing process. My journey to therapy Having spent most of my early career serving the community as a peace officer, I saw firsthand the adverse impact that mental illness has on people's lives. I also discovered that many people do not have access to effective mental health treatment services, and this has only been magnified by the pandemic. Being part of the solution to access mental health treatment is something that I am passionate about, and seeing people thrive after working with them in treatment is very fulfilling to me. My goals for you The very first session is spent working together to formulate specific, time-limited treatment goals that are measurable and reasonably achievable. Progress is measured regularly during treatment to ensure that treatment goals are on track to be met. My first session with you The first session is one in which we spend time identifying the most salient problems that the client would like to work on in therapy.
