About

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist licensed in New York State. I have been trained as a generalist in multiple orientations and to work with a wide range of clinical issues and populations. My experience includes interdisciplinary consultation and systems collaboration, working in schools, community health centers, hospitals, neuropsychological outpatient clinics, and telehealth settings. I have provided individual, family, couples, and group therapy. I have experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings and have worked with children as young as 5 to elderly. I have vast experience providing in-depth psychological assessment, including forensic assessments for the courts. My experiences have provided opportunities to work with vulnerable populations, including minorities, chronic health conditions, economically disadvantaged, and rural residents. I have experience working with individuals with various clinical concerns and diagnoses including depression, various anxieties, bereavement/grief, personality disorders, gender orientation and sexual identity concerns, cognitive impairments, developmental disorders, relationship issues, parenting concerns, trauma, and life transitions.

I am a firm believer that it takes courage to acknowledge when one feels stuck, without direction, or feeling overwhelmed. Many times I have heard that individuals put off seeking therapy because they believed it implied weakness. Seeking guidance, perspective, or help is not weakness. Having the wisdom and insight to acknowledge this is the first step. I’m so glad you are here considering outside perspective, wanting to learn new skills, or ready to dig in and process some hard stuff.

Research shows that one of the biggest factors contributing to successful outcomes of therapy is the connection between client and therapist. I stand behind this 100%. Let’s just be honest – not everyone clicks. It’s not good or bad – it just is. And it’s okay. If you click with me – let’s dive in. If you don’t, that’s okay too. I want you to feel connected to the therapist you see. It’s important for you and my feelings will not be impacted by this. You can let me know if you don’t feel we are a good fit – or if you don’t feel comfortable telling me this, you can switch to a different therapist through the platform. At the end of the day, I want you to get what you need.

My approach is to start off our initial session with a thorough intake. Basically, I want to hear your story. This will be reviewing your historical background, in addition to current stressors. I want to understand where you’ve been, where you are now, and where you’d like to be. I’ll also review your sleep and appetite because these things matter. From there we will work on formulating goals for therapy. Goals are like a road map of what you want and guide how to get there in small, doable steps. I will tailor treatment to your personal challenge(s) or situation.

I’m all about safe places because truthfully… therapy can be difficult at times. You are revealing intimate details of your life, situations, and uncovering feelings and thoughts. You deserve a space that allows for this – a space you can feel heard, non-judgmental, supportive, genuine, and respectful. If you have any questions regarding my approach, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

“The origin of the word "courage" comes from the word "cour", which means heart, and it means to completely share your story with your whole heart.” – Brené Brown
