About
Are you trying over and over to make a change in your life and find you are running into the same obstacles or ways of thinking and feeling that leave you stuck with the same outcome? I am a psychologist with decades of professional experience who can help you start moving forward. Sometimes we all need that outside voice, someone who has professional experience combined with compassion and genuine caring to help us find a way forward. I have been a therapist who worked with adults in a busy healthcare organization (Kaiser Permanente) in an outpatient mental health clinic for 21 years. I also worked in an inpatient mental hospital and in a medical hospital setting assessing patient with mental health needs. I taught couples, assertiveness, bipolar, and anxiety skill-based groups in an outpatient clinic for many years. I led crisis, senior, and womens’ support groups. I have broad experience over years of specializing in adult therapy. My approach to therapy has developed over time. I draw from several therapeutic backgrounds including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, assertiveness skill based therapy, and client centered supportive therapy. My clients describe me as a good listener, warm and caring. I tend to gently suggest new ideas and coping tools to learn and use in your daily life. I collaborate with my clients and welcome feedback. I want to work with you on moving forward in your life with what you need from therapy. Starting therapy can feel daunting. Not knowing what to expect, “will I feel safe really sharing” with this therapist? I believe my most important job is to ensure you feel safe and listened to. Then, we can start the actual goal of learning and growing from where you started. I truly believe people do the best they can with what they know, when they know better, they do better! Educational background: My undergraduate degree is from the University of Colorado where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
