About

Hello, I am Brenda Klass. I have been working with patients for approximately 30+ years. I am a Ph.D. and licensed marriage and family therapist. -To be honest, my joy is to be able to help and support individuals through their difficult times. I understand that everyone has their own story and the battle they face, so my goal is to be an attentive and helpful listening ear. What makes me different from other therapists, just as I have worked with a variety of issues such as depression, family conflict, relationship conflict, anxiety/stress, trauma, and PTSD, and also have significant experience with chronic pain and illness? I have had my journey; you can say I got my degrees the hard way thru experience. It all began with chronic pain; I faced many of the same issues, although I also had an iatrogenic drug dependency. I rarely left my home. I was grieving the loss of my health, separation anxiety from my career, and independence. It took many years until I found the right path and a therapist who helped me navigate the winding road to recovery. I have been there in the deeps of what seemed like a whirlwind. I have experienced what you are experiencing, which makes me different. Yes, it’s different for you, although my firsthand experience has provided me with tools to help you again see the light at the end of the tunnel. I believe in treating you with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My style is empathic and supportive, yet I am direct. My approach will be goal-oriented, emphasizing making changes in the present while moving past issues from your past. I will work from your strengths so that when we meet, I’m not looking to point out all of your “flaws” or “blemishes. I will challenge you to gain more independence and accept responsibility. I prefer a positive approach to a problem and do not believe in a cookie-cutter treatment.
