My name Bao Trinh, PsyD and I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a background in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Forensic psychology. I am a client centered therapist and believe everyone has innate tools and skills to resolve life's challenges, especially depression, anxiety, and interpersonal relationships. My approach I use transference (client) and countertransference (therapist) in the therapeutic relationship as a gauge on how everyday interpersonal relationships may play out and how it may reinforce/perpetuate current symptoms. As such, the therapeutic relationship, becomes a safe space to explore and change how a person may normally react in a relationship. Additionally, as in strength based training, I assist clients in reframing their thoughts and beliefs to also include the positives, gratitude, and character strengths. My focus I would prefer to work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, phobias, and relationship difficulties. I have worked with children, couples, and families but prefer to work with adult individuals. My communication style I am an empathetic therapist who actively listens, restates what I hear while reflecting on possible emotions, and collaborates with the clients on what they are dealing with and how they view it as being resolved. Clients need to feel safe and heard in order to discuss issues that may make them feel vulnerable. My journey to therapy I was interested in finding out how some couples end up growing apart especially since all relationships start out almost like a fairytale. This led me to believe that it was less about growing apart and more about focusing on the negatives instead of the positives. I find fulfillment in assisting clients self-actualize and becoming the main determinant of their quality of life. My goals for you Collaboratively. Clients are more likely to work on a goal that is important to them, and, that they feel they were a part of creating.
