Hi there, I'm Avrille! Hi, I'm Avrille Birnbaum! I'm a Clinical Psychologist, practicing therapy via video for clients who are in need but might not be able to take time off weekly to come to an office. I am a believer in doing what I can to make self-care accessible and relevant for each client, and I strive to make each person feel that they are having a conversation in which they feel supported, heard, and receive tools to use in their daily lives. My approach My therapeutic approach is collaborative, conversational, and makes room for a client to be a person struggling or in process, without being judged for their emotions and learning. As a clinician, I have learned both classic "talk therapy" and different types of behavioral therapy. Because I don't believe that one size fits all, I tailor my treatment plans to a person, not to a theoretical model. I choose the therapeutic interventions by taking into account my client's goals, culture, and presenting issues. I stay abreast of empirically-validated methods and research to ensure that my plans are relevant and useful. My focus Most often, my clients come to me struggling with issues regarding neurodivergence, depression, social anxiety, living with bipolar disorder, chronic pain, and autoimmune disorders. I have clients who are processing issues related to societal microaggressions due to gender, gender expression, being part of a non-dominant culture, non-traditional family/partner structures, and being part of the BDSM/kink community. I see clients from a variety of spiritual and religious/non-religious backgrounds and have experience working with clients from ATRs, and Indigenous communities.
