Qualifications: I have I have a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I am also a Registered Play Therapist and certified in Child-Centered Play Therapy (Certified-CCPT). My formal education and training has prepared me to counsel individual adults, adolescents, children, couples, families, and groups with a variety of concerns.

Experience: I have been practicing in a variety of settings for 10 years. I have counseled children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. I have experience and professional training in using expressive therapies and working with trauma, crisis, and self-harm.

Nature of Counseling: My counseling viewpoint is based on Gestalt Therapy, which is an interactive and warm modality. The way that I counsel is based on my belief that humans have the resources, the knowledge, and the strength to grow and change within them, and must be understood in their unique environments and relationships. In counseling, my hope is that we will work together to unlock those strengths. You are the expert on your life. We will collaborate to explore your thoughts and emotions by using a variety of methods, including traditional talk therapy, expressive methods, and other creative media. My hope is that you will discover parts of yourself of which you were previously unaware and to use your increasing self-awareness to gain new insights. These insights may lead to growth and change; however, any changes, no matter how major or minor, will always be left up to you to choose.
