About
I have worked in the field of mental health for many years, having learned that most people suffer from unconscious guilt and shame stemming from childhood traumas. I understand that the effects of many of our childhood experiences are unconscious, and that guilt may cause us to unconsciously do self-destructive things. Shame causes us to isolate ourselves or to refrain from speaking up and saying what is important to us in our relationships. I maintain a strong interest in the ways in which we may minimize or suppress important feelings in our relationships, and the ways in which doing so may contribute to depression and anxiety, among related concerns. I welcome the ability to talk with patients about complicated feelings, and reactions, and the behaviors which have gotten in the way of achieving their goals. My style is warm, open, encouraging, and collaborative. I believe therapists should be authentic. I like my clients and enjoy helping them achieve greater happiness in life. I find therapy to be a mutually rewarding journey of discovery. I adapt my approach to the individual needs of each client.
