About

I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida. I have had the privilege to work with adolescents, adults, and older patients from various sociocultural backgrounds experiencing a wide range of acute or chronic psychological disorders, to include, depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, psychosis, personality disorders, trauma, parenting problems, substance use, career challenges, comorbid disorders, etc. I have delivered mental health services in inpatient and outpatient settings using various modalities in English and Spanish. I have a strong foundation serving multiculturally diverse patients. As a minority psychologist, I aim for the provision of mental health services taking into account cultural factors that may explain and influence overall mental health. I have also sought opportunities to diversify my clinical and evaluative skills to effectively assist patients with various backgrounds and interests that transcend the norm. For example, I have provided psychological care to individuals from the LGBTQ community, incarcerated population, geriatric group with TBI, and Christian-based faith during routine and emergent situations.

I adhere to an eclectic approach because one size does not fit all. This is collaboratively discussed to ensure there is flexibility and recognition of cultural factors and religious views that might impede adherence for treatment. Evidenced-based interventions are part of my repertoire and tailored to unique needs. This is incorporated within an environment of genuine interest and care; my immediate goal is to build and maintain a strong therapeutic alliance. Overall, my approach is warm, interactive, and flexible to balance your particular needs and goals. I will strive to make you feel comfortable enough to share and receive feedback on an ongoing basis.

Lastly, I invite you to experiment and acquire new healthy ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving while keeping in mind that these will require patience (Rome was not built in one day), persistence (Winners never quit; quitters never win), and practice (Practice makes perfect). I look forward to empowering you to achieve control of your psychological well-being.
