About
Hello, thank you for stopping by! My name is Dr. Alysha and I am a licensed therapist in California with 5 years of experience. I have worked closely with the substance abuse recovery population and co-occurring disorders, specifically Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I also have experience working with individuals struggling with stress, emotional distress, self esteem, some relationship issues and mild trauma/abuse issues. I identify as a Black woman therapist and value diversity, individuality, and genuineness.
Recognizing that change is a natural part of life, in which we grow and adapt to varying environments--personal, relational, and developmental, its alright to admit that sometimes we need help managing. During these challenges, we may find ourselves unable to minimize negative outcomes and generate new solutions. My approach will provide you with support, respect, honesty, understanding, and an outlet to collaborate on the areas that you seek to improve.
Mental health is a key component to your overall wellness and should be cared for with compassion and intentionality. My long term goal as a therapist is to broaden conversations around the importance of mental health, to the same standard as physical health. Particularly in communities of color, my hope is to continuously destigmatize mental health and normalize a helping hand as needed. I believe that with the right amount of support, guidance, and compassion, our capabilities are endless. It would be my pleasure to accompany you on your healing journey.
