About

My name is Donna Janiec and I am glad you are reaching out through Find A Therapist to make a positive change in your life. Therapy can be a source of support and encouragement; the most effective therapy occurs when there is a trusting client-counselor relationship. It is important to find a therapist who will be a good fit for you and the concerns that bring you to therapy.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and have provided therapy in community mental health centers, agencies, and private practices in my career with individuals of all ages and walks of life. I have been a member of the military community most of my life as a dependent, spouse, and DoD civilian. I have worked with those who need assistance with traumatic events (past or present), stress, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, life changes, and parenting issues. Working through those challenges presents great opportunity for growth and building resiliency!

The therapy I provide is based in existential, client-centered, and family systems theories, while integrating other approaches like EMDR (working toward certification), dialectical, and cognitive behavioral therapies. This work is active and individualized. We discuss your concerns, set priorities, and work together to accomplish your goals. We will collaborate to develop various tools for your tool-belt (not every job needs a hammer) so that you will have lots of options to optimize our time together. We can use books, apps, or creative activities (like art or writing), individualized for your unique concerns and interests. Much of my training is in trauma work, and I believe many of our current concerns generate from the past intruding on our present. I think about people in the context of their life story, relationships, environment, and culture. I often ask about these facets of your life, discovering your strengths so we can engage and apply them to your current situation.

I looking to working with you, helping you to develop positive strategies, to feel empowered, and to celebrate with you as you move forward!
