About

Hi there, I'm Diane Mulhern. People call me Diane, Di and/or Diana. I am a licensed CA therapist now primarily working with adult clients via Statewide telehealth services. I consider clients to be the real experts on their lives, and think of myself as a consultant whose job it is to explore meanings and find answers. My approach I filter information through various psychological theories -- each offering a lens to assure every session is meaningful, relevant and correlates to all of the client's individual needs. I have helped clients work through their challenges brought on by mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, loss/grieving, career difficulties, compassion fatigue, trauma, conflict, the good and bad of life transitions/changes, and lack of motivation, self esteem and/or confidence. My focus Whether examining everyday concerns or great heartache, sadness, loneliness, and/or fears -- just about everyone needs extra support at different times in life. I found the following paragraph that truly describes what I believe "therapy" offers: A strictly confidential, thoughtful, mature, and open dialogue between client and therapist that takes place in a friendly, safe, accepting environment. It is an exchange of ideas between two people with one unified goal -- to lessen the client's emotional pain, confusion, discomfort. In other words, a relationship and process with the focus solely on the client. My communication style I listen intently to what you say, verbally and non-verbally. I mean really intently! I may then ask questions, suggest possibilities, help explore thoughts and emotions, offer new perceptions, and/or describe exercises that may be relevant to calm, explain and relieve what's happening in your life. My journey to therapy My desire to become a therapist was fueled at a pretty young age after I realized that, since I had made it through some tough stuff, I might now be able to help others dealing with similar life travails.
