Hello! My name is Derek Robertson, and I am a Clinical Licensed Master Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University and a Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University.

My professional experience includes serving children, teens, and families as a school social worker for more than 14 years. I have been in private practice since 2016, addressing a diverse array of mental health needs including, but not limited to, complex PTSD; social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in children, teens, and their families; court-referred counseling; grief and loss; anger management; anxiety and depression; and couple’s counseling.

I am very comfortable working with people ages 13 years and older. Additionally, I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. My education and training are strengths-based, and my approach to therapy places significant emphasis on collaborative problem-solving. I work with clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support and empower you in that journey.
