About

I have a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in Counseling Studies and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I have had a wide array of experience in the twelve years that I have been working in the mental health field, first in New Jersey and, for the last two years, in Texas. While I have worked multiple populations, I have focused my work in substance use, supporting individuals struggling with addiction and their families as they navigate recovery. I have specialized knowledge in medication-assisted treatment modalities including methadone and buprenorphine. I have experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, panic, depression and recovering from trauma. I also work with couples, helping them learn how to better communicate, how to navigate disagreements and how to resolve conflicts.

My therapeutic style focuses on the here and now first, dealing with the issues that are at hand now and circling back to the causes and the underlying reasons they occur. I like to help my clients develop a “toolbox” of coping skills that they can access when they are not in my office, that they can apply as needed to address the problems that may arise. I like to give simple homework, communication tools a client can test out or a coping skill a client can try to implement, then return to let me know how it works. I always ask a client what would be the most helpful to them and continue to revisit that idea as the therapy continues so that the client is always getting what they need. It is often difficult to know where to start with a new therapist, and I work to meet the client where they are, at their comfort level, and support them through the process.
