Hello, I'm glad to see that you're reaching out and thinking about taking the next step in getting or staying healthy. I've been a practicing clinical social worker for 23 years, most of those in Kansas. I got my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Kansas and my master's degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus. My role is connecting with people and guiding them through difficult times in their lives, giving them a framework for managing future difficulties or just support through their current situation. My style is warm and interactive. I believe it is essential to find the right fit between the client and therapist. Too often I hear from people that with their previous therapist "I just wasn't comfortable but I didn't want to be rude so I didn't say anything" which interferes with making progress. This is your process, please make sure you find the right fit!

I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and find it very useful for many situations as well as being trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Trauma Treatment. I also use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Polyvagal Theory. I value the mind-body connection and find it is essential in treating trauma in particular.

I am comfortable treating people diagnosed with mood disorders, trauma, suicidal and self-harming behaviors, anxiety, psychotic disorders and borderline personality disorder. The focus, however, is not on a diagnosis but rather on how symptoms are affecting the client and what approach(es) will work best to resolve unhappiness/discomfort/fear.
