During my nearly 35 years of counseling adults, children, and families primarily in schools and the child welfare system, and living life myself, I believe there are three areas to focus on when people experience depression, anxiety, and frustration in their lives. First, the earliest experiences in our families of origin create feelings and patterns of emotions and behavior that can be counterproductive in our adult lives. Secondly, unresolved grief and loss issues seem to figure predominately no matter the origin of the loss. Life transitions and changes can be difficult to navigate and require time, attention, and acceptance. Emotional health and resolution are created when insight, understanding, acceptance of these issues and feelings occur. Decisions can then be made about adopting healthier attitudes, behavior, and skills to handle life's challenges.
I will provide a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space to explore feelings and life events that may be unresolved and getting in the way of your best life. Let's set some goals, talk it through, and together figure out a better way.
